Reviewing The Love Hypothesis

I was recommended the book by a friend of mine and had its title saved in my notes app as a reminder. They told me to see the movie first then book to not get disappointed by the movie. Come fall break, I find myself in the romance section of a book store.

In a word: WOW. I see now why women read romance novels.

This reminded me of the SNL skit about a movie for moms that has no conflict and everything good happens.

Ali Hazelwood created this in book form for lonely young and middle-aged adults in academia. I say this with praise and criticism included.

There are real weaknesses in this book. Weaknesses you see with a minute of critical thought to what’s happening, e.g. Adam is not a real person and their “romance” is incredibly superficial. There are no surprises in the book and everything will go the way you want it to.

Nevertheless, the reward center of my brain enjoyed it all the way through. It was one of the fastest books I have ever consumed. If you are lucky to also get a copy of the book with the bonus chapter, READ THAT TOO.

Rating: 4.7 / 5

I have yet to see the movie.
